Doris Beard, a cruise passenger from Indiana, sued Carnival Cruise Line claiming the cruise ship she was on went so fast, her body swayed terribly and she had bleeding. Apparently other guests on board became sick as well and even the workers were affected by the high speed.
A small claims court in Lake County, Indiana denied the claim. However, this week the Indiana Court of Appeals said the small claims court "erred," and reversed the decision. Carnival Cruise Line has called for the case to be dismissed, arguing the venue for the law suit should be changed to Miami, Florida, where the cruise line is based.
Information regarding which Carnival ship Beard cruised on or where she commenced her cruise have not been revealed. She filed her claim in August 2009. It is not known how much compensation she is seeking.
