Possible San Diego Port delays for 12th Dec

Travellers are advised to take care if cruising from San Diego Port on 12th Dec. The group ‘West Coast Port Shutdown’ are trying to orchestrate strike action among Dockers along the West coast, in ports Anchorage, Vancouver, San Diego and Portland. The planned action, called Occupy, is in protest to the belief of the group’s supporters that there is widespread corporate abuse throughout the Port authorities and the general squeezing of middle class workers.

Occupy supporters have stated they have strong support in all the cities and are backed by the ILWU, a fact which the union deny. Although they have sympathies with the group, they state they do not support the strike actions and it is being managed and lead by a third party.
